What can you expect?
During our first few sessions we will identify your goals for therapy and explore whether or not we are a good "fit". This is an essential part of the process. By offering a non-judgmental space where you can come to know yourself, my hope is to help you find the health and stability you are seeking. Our sessions will be driven by what you want in the self-discovery process. I can offer insight and reflection to support you in reaching your identified goals.
Therapy may be difficult at times. We will talk about the difficulties that arise together, and work to name your feelings to learn more about what you need. Change can be challenging, but together we can build a strong foundation from which to launch into new phases of your life.
Often clients say to me "Relationships are so hard." This is commonly why people come to see me, because they are struggling in their relationships with family members, partners, friends, coworkers, roommates. Together we will work to uncover what is making your relationships challenging, and to examine the choices you have available to you to create more manageable, connected, and authentic relationships with yourself and those around you.
I want to help you thrive.
My work is informed by the research that has been done in the past few decades about trauma, and the ways in which we endure trauma in both large and small ways throughout our lives. I practice a contemporary relational model of psychotherapy, which uses the present moment in therapy to examine wider issues in clients' lives. I trained in this form of therapy at the Integral Counseling Center at Pierce Street, the Marina Counseling Center, and Grateful Heart Holistic Therapy Center.
